small_logoSince I received my amateur radio operators license in 1999 I have volunteered my time in areas of emergency communications and as a Skywarn severe weather spotter with the national weather service.

During an active storm chase (or testing times) you will be able to see my Live Video Stream in the window above and find my position on the map.

FIRST SUCCESSFUL CHASE
From 2004 to 2005 I became more involved with learning about severe weather and tornadoes and began to join storm chasers following severe events in Minnesota and Iowa.

May 22, 2004 was my first successful storm chasing event into Iowa where along with my sons Jaimie and Jared we spotted 2 tornadoes on the ground and 2 funnel clouds. That day saw a major tornado outbreak in the mid-west with a total of 85 tornadoes and 36 in Iowa.

This year I am making preparations to get back on the road again for storm chasing. I have updated equipment for remote radar, GPS mapping and Live Streaming Video from my chase Jeep. Below are links to some resources that I use. I will be adding more information to this area of my blog over the next week or two.
