The Holiday Card System Makes Sending Greeting Cards Fast and Easy

The Holidays at the end of each year can be a very stressful time for many people. Buying, writing out and sending out all those greeting cards for individuals and business owners only adds to the stress.
For the past three years my wife and I have been using a very simple and easy system to send out holiday cards to family, friends and business connections… stress free. We don’t go to the card store and we don’t even go to the post office to mail them. Watch this video from a Webinar replay that I did a few days ago.

Amazon Introduces New Kindle Fire with Amazon Silk Web Browser

Today Amazon Founder and CEO Jeff Bezos introduced the world to his new Kindle Fire color tablet which uses the Amazon Silk web browser. This new innovation in technology uses the Amazon EC2 Cloud service to host applications and data in the Amazon Cloud which saves on storage space on the tablet itself.
Kindle Fire brings everything we’ve been working on at Amazon for 15 years together into a single, fully-integrated experience for customers – instant access to Amazon’s massive selection of digital content, a vibrant color IPS touchscreen with extra-wide viewing angle, a 14.6 ounce design that’s easy to hold with one hand, a state-of-the-art dual core processor, free storage in the Amazon Cloud, and an ultra-fast mobile browser – Amazon Silk – available exclusively on Kindle Fire.
I have been using Amazon S3 services for over 3 years to host audio and video files for my websites and for my clients. I love what Amazon has provided to me… low cost storage and high availability with high speed streaming of audio and video files. I look forward to giving the new Kindle Fire tablet a try this Fall when it becomes available. Heck, for under $200 it is a super deal. Thanks Mr. Bezos, good move.

Moving Onward and Upward with Send Out Cards

In 59 minutes it will be September here in Elk River, Minnesota so I guess I better type this up fast so that it shows that I posted something here in August. 
This month has been very busy with new website projects for clients and launching of a new product/service, Mobile Apps for iPhones and Android phones for local business owners. It has also been a time for thinking and planning for the future and that is what I wanted to share with you tonight.
As most of my readers and followers on FB know, I’m a distributor for Send Out Cards and have been for over three years. I joined after seeing a presentation by my friend Larry Benet and liked how he showed he used it for prospecting and following up with clients as well as staying in touch with family and friends by sending real printed greeting cards in the mail. I’ve used Send Out Cards that way myself but didn’t really look at the business opportunity it holds until lately.

Testing New QR Code Tools at www.delivr.com

I was on the phone yesterday with Mike Stewart and he gave me a tip about using www.delivr.com as a place to create QR Codes for my business clients. Mike likes this website because it allows him to create an EPS vector file which printers can use and make a QR code any size you want.

Social Media Consult Tyler Olson Talks About Google+ on Fox 9 TV

WordPress Video Manual Plugin to Train Your Clients

Recently I was on a training call with my friend Mike Stewart learning some of the great tools he uses to help local business owners in the Atlanta area. One of the tools Mike shared with us was a WordPress Plugin that contains videos and a PDF manual that he installs on all his client websites. This was exciting for me to see in action. For years I’ve done my best to teach my own clients how to use WordPress but it seemed that no matter how much I worked at teaching them the simple (for me) ways to work with WordPress they would still get stuck when they forgot something.

Latest Google Algorithmic Update Helps Some Hurts Others

Last Thursday Google launched another round of algorithmic updates on domains in the USA. Some website owners saw this as good for them and others lost ground in their SEO work by what is now referred to as the Google Farmer Update.
According to the Official Google Blog…
Many of the changes we make are so subtle that very few people notice them. But in the last day or so we launched a pretty big algorithmic improvement to our ranking—a change that noticeably impacts 11.8% of our queries—and we wanted to let people know what’s going on. This update is designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites—sites which are low-value add for users, copy content from other websites or sites that are just not very useful. At the same time, it will provide better rankings for high-quality sites—sites with original content and information such as research, in-depth reports, thoughtful analysis and so on.
So, how did your websites do? Did you feel a “Google Slap” or did it help you?
For most of my own websites I saw a positive result increasing my sites one full PR point and I see other good coming from this.
Most of what I do is focused on helping local business owners who lately for the most part are benefiting from the changes Google is doing with the tweaking of their systems. Google Places pages showing up on page one for keywords in local niches is just one place that Google is helping.

My Three Year Anniversary Working From Home

I just had my three year anniversary running my own business from home (and just about anywhere else I want to travel to) working as an Online Business Developer.
February 25, 2008 was a Monday that set me free from the JOB as an IT Manager helping to make someone else rich. I would love to say that I’m now rich myself but, while that is not true financially, I do have all our needs and more taken care of. Also, I have time to enjoy my family doing what I want and not what I have to do everyday.
Last week my wife, son and I had a wonderful time escaping the snow and cold of Minnesota for the warm sunshine of Orlando, Florida. We had a working vacation together and still had time to play and do fun stuff. The three of us helped my friend and client Jeff Mills present his Clickbank Masters USA conference there in Orlando.
I am blessed to be able to change my work and lifestyle by making use of the Internet as a communication tool and a medium for building virtual businesses online. Sometimes online marketers make it sound soooo easy and talk about how anyone can build an online business. Well, that is not true anymore than anyone can open a successful business in your city.
My primary focus for 2011 is helping local business owners who need help to understand and utilize online tools and technology to get customers in the door or sell their products or services online. I will always be open to helping anyone who wants to start an online only business but that takes skills in business and administration that most folks don’t have.
If you don’t currently own and operate a business in your community but would like to find a way to build a part-time or even full-time business and, you have at least some basic computer skills, I would recommend you look into starting your own Greeting Card Business.
