Are you a person who has a hard time with change. Maybe you didn’t vote for “Change” in the last big election season or, maybe as you get older you are just getting to the place where you would just like things to stay the same for a week or two, maybe a month or so.
If you are going to be running a business online using the tools of Social Media for marketing you need to get used to things changing fast… even if you don’t like that. I share that with you because I need to remember that for myself, case in point….
I was busy last week getting ready to fly out to Chicago to run a video crew to record a four day event and so I missed this “little” change that Facebook pulled off on April 19th. Over the weekend when I logged into my Facebook account to checkup on a couple friends (yes real friends that posted something I needed to read) I saw this message…

I had time today to do a little research and now I see that the Facebook programmers have been at it again… messing with what I had finally managed to learn. Here is the explanation that Facebook gives for the change.
Why did “Become a Fan” change to “Like”?
To improve your experience and promote consistency across the site, we…
To improve your experience and promote consistency across the site, we’ve changed the language for Pages from “Fan” to “Like.” We believe this change offers you a more light-weight and standard way to connect with people, things and topics in which you are interested.
So do you understand now? Maybe they should have called this a “Follow” button rather than Like as you might want to click on a person, business, political party, music group or any number of other Facebook Pages that you want to look at or follow along to see what they are posting but, you may not truly LIKE them.
So maybe folks didn’t want to JOIN something but perhaps they don’t want to LIKE it either. If you were the Facebook god/goddess (programmers) what do you think this should be called?

Biz Stone founder of Twitter.com to Share Business Plan This Week
Apr 12th
For the past several months Tweets and other discussions have floated around the Internet regarding Twitter.com founder Biz Stone and co-founder Evan Williams revealing their plans for monetization of Twitter. Last month at the Las Vegas Wireless show CNBC interviewed Biz Stone about their plans.
Today on CNBC the Harvard Business School students talked about what their ideas would be for a good business plan for Twitter.com. One concern the Harvard Business School students, as well as other uses of Twitter have is, how might advertising effect or possibly disrupt Twitter uses online and mobile experience.
Twitter along with other Social Media tools like Facebook.com have become a new way for businesses to get their message out to the public, connect with current customers, and to protect their brand by monitoring the talk about their businesses online.
If you are not using Social Media tools like Twitter.com, Facebook.com, LinkedIn.com and others in your business… you are getting left behind. Want to learn how to use these tools for your business? Contact me to arrange a free consultation.

Al Gore Did Not Invent the Internet but Did He Invent Global Warming?
Feb 15th
Today many articles in the US and around the world are talking about Professor Phil Jones who is at the center of the “Climategate” affair. It seems that there was an error in his data or the way he reported it at least. “Yesterday it emerged that Professor Jones, whose raw data is crucial to the theory of climate change, had admitted he has trouble “keeping track” of the information.” (more)
Those who have been trying to convince us that humans are the cause of global warming, climate change or whatever title is today are going to need to find a new source for data to support their theories. Mr. Al Gore, who invented the Internet, may need to work harder to find “real research” that can show that what we are seeing happening around the world is truly caused by use humans and not normal changes to climate in our world.
In November 2008 while in Nuremberg, Germany with my wife I saw Mr. Gores book, “An Inconvenient Truth” in the window of a bookstore. It made me wonder why this message had traveled so far so fast. I guessed that he must have become a master of marketing on the Internet that he had invented back in the 1990′s to spread this story around the world.
Here is a good place to learn more about the “stories” in his book. Find out why Mr. Gore owes us an apology HERE.
I firmly believe that we need to take care of our planet. This is the only one that God gave us and He made it perfect for us. We were placed here with a mandate to take care of this world. Part of taking care of the earth is to be truthful regarding research and writing about what is happening to our wonderful world.
What do you think about these new revelations?
Where do you stand on the issue of climate change or global warming?

What’s the Buzz about Google Buzz? Privacy Nightmare!
Feb 10th
I opened my Gmail account this afternoon which I mostly use a place to access the links to Google Calendar and Google Docs and I noticed a new button below my Inbox button on my Gmail page. Then I remembered seeing some Google Ad page that filled my screen earlier in the day which, while on a phone call and checking email in Outlook (multitasking as usual) I just clicked some button to say like “No Thanks” and got to my Gmail page.
I almost forgot about that dumb ad page until I noticed a Trending item on my Twitter page tonight… Google Buzz
Wow, is that a Hot Item and lots of people are upset with Google about this new “feature” that the Google boys (and girls) think is soooo coollll. Most folks thinks it stinks!
Checkout these blogs and postings to see what the Internet-universe thinks of Google today.
Molly Wood says, “I know some of the technorati are losing their minds over the awesomeness that is Google Buzz, but I think that Google’s making a lot of Facebook’s privacy and opt-in mistakes right out of the gate, and it’s going to bite it big-time, if it doesn’t fix it pronto.” READ MORE HERE
At the Official Google Blog, “”Today, we’re launching Google Buzz, a new way to start conversations about the things you find interesting and share updates, photos, videos and more. Buzz is built right into Gmail, so there’s nothing to set up — you’re automatically following the people you email and chat with the most.” READ MORE HERE
Business Insider says, “There is a huge privacy flaw in Google’s new Twitter/Facebook competitor, Google Buzz. When you first go into Google Buzz, it automatically sets you up with followers and people to follow.” READ MORE HERE
And over at Computer World, what’s that about a Naked Man?? “The second thing I saw was a list of public “buzzes” from people in my immediate area (including somebody who obligingly mentioned that he wasn’t wearing any clothes). Under each buzz was the person’s location — not the general location, but the full address. Street number, street name, city, state.” READ MORE HERE
Ok, so I think you get the idea, Google Buzz in the current form that has been pushed out on the world in the past 24-48 hours is a stinker.
If you want to turn it off, as I did, there is a button at the bottom or your Gmail page.

Feb 3rd

It has taken about a week but I think I have my WhoIsHenry.com website rebuilt to the way I want it. I have added some new features to make it more visitor friendly including the ability to subscribe to my RSS Feed at Feedburner, now managed by Google, by just entering your current email address. Once a day you will receive an email with the content of my recent post(s), if I posted new content in the past day.
Now I want to find out what you my subscribers and visitors want to learn from me. As you may already know, I have over 16 years of background working with computers, computer networks and the Internet. I built my first websites back in 1994 and created the first website for my local bank in 1995. For the past two years I have worked full-time in my own business operating from my home, Caribou Coffee and Panera Bread (love FREE WiFi).
In November of 2009 I completely rebuilt my Web Hosting business, Missionsprings.net on the Hostgator.com system when I joined them as a reseller of their hosting services. My focus is building and hosting WordPress CMS (Content Management Systems) websites for my customers. As a mentioned above, I want to find out what you wish to learn from me. Please take a couple minutes to post a comment below and tell me what areas of online marketing technology are giving you the most trouble or what you need to learn to more your business forward in 2010.

New Year, New Decade and Time for a New Look for WhoIsHenry.com Blog
Jan 29th
If things are looking a little messy when you visit my website today it’s because I’m doing some remodeling of my website here at WhoIsHenry.com.
About six months back my I had a major change with my business plans so I’ve been working more on other websites and projects and not doing much with this blog. Now that I’m further along with those projects we are working on doing the updates and theme changes that I want to make here on WhoIsHenry.com
It will probably take a week or two until I get things the way I want them so please pardon the mess while we work. I’ll give you a full update to the new things that are going on here after the site remodeling is done.

Fugitive Caught via World of Warcraft
Jan 2nd
This is an interesting usage of technology posted on Mashable.
“Police have been known to use social media like Facebook and Twitter to track down thieves (the IRS, too), and careless Facebooking can quickly get you arrested. But if you’re on the run from the law, there’s another online territory you might want to consider avoiding: World of Warcraft.” …more
